Events. Nederland runs a busy calendar for a town its size, including some genuinely unusual ones.
Trailheads. The Indian Peaks Wilderness is accessed from here, and parking at popular trailheads fills very early.
The Drive Home Is the Booking
Going up is straightforward. Coming down a canyon road at eleven at night, in the dark, after an evening in a bar at 8,200 feet is not.
Altitude compounds this. Alcohol affects people more strongly at elevation than they expect, and most visitors have not adjusted.
Colorado runs enforcement campaigns year-round through the state’s impaired driving programme. The canyon is not a road to test anything on.
