Colorado gets storms that close interstates and cancel flights. If you have a booking during one, the useful question is not whether we will drive in snow — we will — but what actually happens to your arrangements.
Here is how Boulder winter storm transportation works in practice, including the situations where the honest answer is to move the trip.

What Dispatch Does Before You Ask
We monitor COtrip and forecast conditions continuously through storm cycles, and we look at bookings against them rather than waiting for customers to call.
| Condition | What we do | When you hear |
|---|---|---|
| Snow forecast, roads open | Move pickup 20–40 min earlier | Evening before |
| Active storm, roads slow | Move pickup 60–90 min earlier | Evening before or early morning |
| Mountain pass at risk | Advise on timing or rescheduling | As soon as we know |
| Corridor closed | Reschedule — nobody drives a closed road | Immediately |
The pattern is that you hear from us before you would have thought to ask. That is most of what a booking buys you in February.
The Traction Law Is Not Optional
CDOT enforces the Passenger Vehicle Traction Law on the I-70 Mountain Corridor between Dotsero and Morrison from 1 September to 31 May, and the requirements cover tread depth and tyre type even on all-wheel drive vehicles.
This catches visitors constantly. A hire car with worn all-season tyres is not compliant, and nobody at the rental counter checks.
Every Mayflower Boulder Limo vehicle is four-wheel drive and compliant year-round. That is not a feature we mention for marketing — it is the baseline requirement for operating here between September and May.
Airport Runs in a Storm
The E-470 corridor east of Denver is exposed plains, and storms hit it hard. It is also the route to every flight you need to catch.
Our Denver airport car service is a flat $270 per vehicle, and the rate does not change because the drive takes ninety minutes instead of fifty. A metered fare would bill you for the storm; a flat Denver airport car service quote absorbs it.
On the return, every booking is tied to a flight number rather than a clock time, tracked live and adjusted at no charge. A Denver airport car service booking handles a two-hour delay without a conversation — see the airport transfer page.

Mountain Transfers in a Storm
Ski weekends and storms arrive together, which is the point of ski weekends.
Our mountain routes are flat-rated — Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek at $650, Steamboat at $1,100 — and include one complimentary 15-minute stop. The rate holds whether the drive takes two hours or four. See the rate card and our ski resort transfers page.
What we will not do is drive a closed pass or push through conditions that are genuinely unsafe. If that means moving your departure or your date, we will say so.
When We Say Move the Trip
This is the part most operators avoid putting in writing.
- A closed corridor. Nothing to discuss — we reschedule.
- A pass closing imminently. Going up with no certainty of coming down is not a plan.
- A flight already cancelled. Better to move the booking than drive to a closed terminal.
- Conditions deteriorating faster than forecast. We would rather tell you than be optimistic.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead applies as normal, and we move bookings for weather rather than charging for them.

What to Do on Your Side
- Give us your flight number, not a pickup time. We work backwards from it.
- Answer the phone the evening before a forecast storm.
- Clear your driveway if you can — a vehicle that cannot reach your door costs ten minutes.
- Build in margin yourself. An earlier flight on a storm day is worth more than any transport arrangement.
- Tell us if your plans change. Dispatch answers twenty-four hours a day.

Why a Booking Beats an App in a Storm
This is the clearest case for pre-booking that exists.
Driver availability collapses in bad weather exactly when demand peaks, surge pricing reaches its maximum, and a cancellation at 4am has no recovery. A pre-booked vehicle is assigned to you with a named chauffeur, dispatched the night before.
Every Boulder car service quote is flat and confirmed in writing, and a Boulder car service rate does not respond to weather. That is the entire difference.
Mayflower Boulder Limo Chauffeur Service Standards
Mayflower Boulder Limo is certified by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, carries the highest insurance limits in the state, and holds a ★ 4.97 rating.
Our Boulder chauffeur service runs background-checked, mountain-trained chauffeurs with GPS fleet tracking. A Boulder chauffeur service that drives these corridors through every winter knows which segments close first, and any Boulder chauffeur service running Boulder since 2000 has made the call to reschedule more than once.
Booking Through Winter
Book earlier than you would in summer. Storm days concentrate demand and the large vehicles go first.
Holiday periods and ski-season weekends need two to four weeks — our holiday travel guide covers the worst dates.
A Boulder limo service account means recurring winter travel is already arranged rather than booked each time, and a Boulder limo service standing booking is adjusted by dispatch rather than by you. Every Boulder transportation service quote is confirmed in writing, and beyond fourteen passengers a Boulder transportation service booking runs multiple vehicles on one coordinated itinerary.
