Boulder Airport Shuttle: Three Different Things People Mean by That Word

October 28, 2026 · 4 min read

Boulder Airport Shuttle

“Shuttle” is doing a lot of work in that search. It covers three genuinely different services with different costs, and people frequently book the wrong one.

Here is what each actually is. A Boulder airport shuttle might mean any of them, and the right answer depends entirely on your trip.

That last row is where the three diverge most, and it is the one people discover at eleven at night.

The Public Bus

Boulder has a direct RTD service to Denver International, and it is genuinely good value. Fixed stops, fixed timetable, a few dollars per person.

It suits a solo traveller with a carry-on and a midday flight. Check current fares and timetables at RTD — our full bus comparison covers when it is the better call.

The Shared Shuttle

A van collecting several unrelated parties and dropping each in turn. Priced per person, so cheaper than a private vehicle for one or two people.

The trade is time and control. You travel on their window rather than yours, and you may be the fourth drop-off on a loop. For a 6am flight or a tight connection that is a real risk.

The Private Car

One vehicle, your party only, direct, timed to your flight.

Our Denver airport car service is a flat $270 per vehicle — not per person, which is the detail that changes the comparison entirely.

2$135
4$67.50
6$45

At one passenger a shared option wins comfortably. At four the gap narrows sharply, and at six a private vehicle is frequently competitive with per-person pricing — while being direct and timed to your flight.

Which to Book

Public bus — one person, carry-on, midday flight, clear weather, near a stop.

Shared shuttle — one or two people, relaxed timing, happy to share and wait.

Private car — two or more people, an early or late flight, luggage or ski gear, bad weather, a connection you cannot miss, or anyone travelling who needs help.

We would rather tell you to take the bus when the bus fits than win a booking that was not worth making.

What the Flat Rate Includes

  • Live flight tracking with automatic pickup adjustment.
  • Free wait time — 45 minutes domestic, 60 international, from wheels-down.
  • All taxes and fees.
  • Free child seats, fitted before pickup.
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.
  • No surge — the same rate at 3am, in a storm, on a holiday.

Curbside collection is free; meet-and-greet at baggage claim is $135 — our meet and greet page covers when that is worth it.

Where Private Cars Collect

Not the rideshare zone and not the bus bays. Collection is from Level 5, Island 2 outside the Jeppesen Terminal — Door 511 east, Door 506 west.

Dispatch confirms your door once you land. Terminal information is published by Denver International Airport.

Luggage decides the vehicle more than passenger count does — see the fleet page and our gear sizing guide.

If You Want an Actual Shuttle

Worth being clear: we do run shuttle services, just not shared public ones.

A Boulder limo service shuttle means a vehicle held for your group running a loop — hotel to venue, conference to office, wedding guests to a reception. That is covered on our conference page and employee shuttle page. A Boulder limo service loop is booked hourly rather than per trip.

Winter

Every Mayflower Boulder Limo vehicle is four-wheel drive and winter-compliant year-round, and dispatch monitors COtrip through storm cycles.

A snowy morning is when a fixed timetable costs you a flight and a tracked private booking does not. Our winter storm page explains what we do before you ask.
