Move-in is the single most compressed logistics day of the academic year. Thousands of students, their families, and everything they own, converging on a few residence halls across a handful of hours.
CU runs timed arrival windows precisely because of this. CU Boulder move-in day transportation is about hitting yours without the day falling apart around it.

The Timed Window Is the Whole Game
Residence halls assign arrival slots, and unloading zones are controlled. Miss your window and you are circling, or parked somewhere that turns an afternoon into an evening.
Which means working backwards from the slot rather than forwards from your hotel. A 10am window with a 45-minute airport run means a pickup around 8:15am, not 9:30.
Confirm your window and current unloading rules with CU Boulder Residence Life — these change year to year and they are enforced.
Two Different Move-In Problems
| Flying in | Driving in | |
|---|---|---|
| The problem | Luggage volume vs vehicle size | Where the car goes afterwards |
| Typical load | 4–6 cases plus boxes shipped ahead | A full car, sometimes two |
| What helps | An SUV or van from the airport | A second vehicle for the family |
| The pinch | Rental cars are tiny and sold out | Two cars, one unloading slot |
Both end in the same place: more stuff than fits comfortably, and nowhere convenient to put the vehicle.
Flying In: The Luggage Maths
A family of four arriving for move-in is four people, six to eight checked bags and a student’s entire life in soft luggage. That does not fit in a standard saloon, and rental fleets in Denver are stretched thin in August.
Our Denver airport car service is a flat $270 per vehicle — an SUV takes six guests and six bags, a Sprinter twelve and twelve. Live flight tracking, automatic pickup adjustment, and 45 minutes of complimentary wait time on domestic arrivals.
A Denver airport car service quote is flat whatever time you land, and the rate covers the vehicle rather than the seat. Details on the airport transfer page.
Driving In: The Second-Car Problem
If the family drove from out of state with a loaded car, that car has to go somewhere after unloading — and parking near campus on move-in day is the worst it gets all year.
Plenty of families book a vehicle for the rest of the day instead: the unloading run, then lunch, then errands, then the hotel. One car at the hall, one chauffeured vehicle for everything else.
Book it by the hour on a four-hour minimum and the day stops needing management.

The Shopping Run Nobody Plans
Every move-in includes an unplanned trip for the things that did not arrive, did not fit, or were forgotten entirely. A mattress topper, a fan, a desk lamp, a laundry basket.
That run is 20 to 30 minutes each way to the retail corridor, with a car full of boxes on the way back. It is far easier with a held vehicle than with a rental you have to re-park afterwards.

Bags matter more than seats on this particular day. Tell dispatch what you are actually carrying and the right vehicle is assigned — see the fleet page.
Move-Out Is the Same Day in Reverse
May brings the mirror image, and it is often harder. A year of accumulated belongings, a hall emptying on a deadline, and a flight to catch.
It also frequently collides with graduation weekend, which is the busiest weekend in the Boulder calendar. Book move-out transport when you book the flights, not in the final week.

The Rate
Flat, confirmed in writing before the day, with no event premium and no meter running while a hall queue clears.
Every Boulder car service quote covers the vehicle rather than the seat, so a family of five pays one number. A flat Boulder car service rate on move-in Saturday is the same as any other day. Published routes sit on the rate card.

Where You Are Staying
Boulder hotels fill for move-in weekend, so plenty of families end up in Louisville, Superior or Broomfield — 15 to 30 minutes out, and every movement that weekend becomes a drive. Our Louisville page covers the overflow ring.
A Boulder limo service booking can cover both days rather than individual legs, and a Boulder limo service reservation handles a family group plus the student in one vehicle.
Mayflower Boulder Limo Chauffeur Service Standards
Mayflower Boulder Limo is certified by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, carries the highest insurance limits in the state, and holds a ★ 4.97 rating.
Our Boulder chauffeur service runs background-checked chauffeurs with GPS fleet tracking. A Boulder chauffeur service that works move-in knows which residence halls have workable unloading access and which approaches back up first, and any Boulder chauffeur service running Boulder since 2000 has done this every August for a quarter century.

Booking
Move-in weekend books out early — three to six weeks minimum, and longer for a van. Graduation and move-out in May need six to eight weeks because they overlap.
Give dispatch your assigned arrival window rather than a pickup time, and we work backwards from it. Free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.
Beyond fourteen passengers, a Boulder transportation service booking runs multiple vehicles on one coordinated itinerary, and every Boulder transportation service quote is confirmed in writing. A Boulder transportation service reservation can hold a vehicle across the whole weekend.
Hit your window. Skip the parking. Book your CU Boulder move-in day transportation or call (720) 474-8018.
